Quickstart

Go from sign-in to a working draft in a few minutes.

This quickstart follows the desktop web and macOS workspace. For the native iPhone workflow, use Getting started with the mobile app. Mobile web uses a smaller projects-and-writing interface and does not include every step below.

  1. Open feldar.com.
  2. Continue with Google or Apple, or enter your email address.
  3. If you use email, enter the six-digit code sent to your inbox. You can choose the password flow instead when it is available for your account.

The first time you sign in, Feldar asks a few questions before opening your projects:

  1. Confirm the name Feldar should use for you.
  2. Enter your birthday in the format shown.
  3. Choose your main type of writing.
  4. Choose where you want the most help.
  5. If the desktop-app step appears, choose Download for macOS or Skip.

These answers help Feldar tailor the starting experience. You can continue in the browser; installing the macOS app is optional.

  1. From Projects, select New project → New draft.
  2. Feldar creates the project and opens it for writing.
  3. Use the project menu to rename it from its initial untitled name.

Open the project, choose a page, and begin writing in the editor.

  • Caret Assist: Place the cursor in your draft to see context-aware actions such as finishing a sentence, continuing from the current point, or adding scene detail.
  • Rewrite: Select text, open the writing menu, then choose Instruct, Polish, Deepen, or Enhance.
  • Inline alternatives: Review generated results in context and apply the one you want. Generated text is not inserted until you accept it.

See Caret Assist and Rewrite for the complete workflows.

  1. Open Outline from the editor header.
  2. Add scenes with useful titles and descriptions.
  3. Edit or delete scenes as the structure changes.
  4. Use Continue from here or the page-drafting workflow when you are ready to turn the outline into prose.

See Pages and scenes before running a longer generation.

On desktop, open Canvas and choose Character, Location, Plot, Note, Item, or Faction from the card tray. Edit the card title and body, then arrange the cards spatially. Canvas does not currently create relationship lines between cards.

Relevant Canvas cards can provide context to generation and can be searched by Chat. See Canvas.

  • Checks: With at least 100 words on the page, open Checks and select an individual check to run it.
  • Lens: Open Chat, select a Lens persona or Reader reactions, add the relevant context, and send your request.
  • Chat: Ask questions, attach files or project context, and explicitly accept or dismiss any proposed changes.
