Scenes
Scenes are the building blocks of a project’s outline. Feldar organizes a project into pages, and each page can contain one or more scenes. A scene records the moment or beat that Feldar should understand before drafting that page.
Why use scenes
Section titled “Why use scenes”- Plan your structure before you write
- Break a page into clear story beats
- Provide structure for page drafting
Generate an initial outline
Section titled “Generate an initial outline”- Open Outline from the editor header.
- Make sure the manuscript contains enough context for Feldar to understand the story. Scene generation becomes available at about 100 words.
- Select Generate scenes.
- Review the generated titles and descriptions before drafting pages.
If generation is locked, continue writing until the Outline panel reports that it has enough story context.
Edit or delete a scene
Section titled “Edit or delete a scene”Select a scene, then edit its title or description directly in the Outline panel. Move focus away from the field to save the change.
Use the trash button on a scene to delete it. Scene rewriting is not currently available from the scene action buttons.
Add scenes between existing scenes
Section titled “Add scenes between existing scenes”Select Add here between two existing scenes. The supported choices are:
- Write blank inserts an empty scene for you to title and describe.
- Continue from here generates the next one or more scenes after the selected beat. Choose the number of scenes and optionally add guidance before selecting Generate.
AI scene creation requires the same manuscript context as the initial generation. Drag-and-drop scene reordering is not currently available.
Writing good scene descriptions
Section titled “Writing good scene descriptions”Write scene descriptions the way you’d brief a collaborator:
- “Elena confronts Marcus about the stolen letter” beats “tension builds”
- Keep each scene focused on one main beat. Add another scene when the beat changes.
- Include the character’s goal, the conflict, and the change that should occur when they matter.
- Plain language works best. Save the poetry for the prose.
From scenes to pages
Section titled “From scenes to pages”Once each page has useful scenes, Feldar can turn the outline into draft prose. See Page Drafting for that workflow.
