Checks

Checks reviews the current page and highlights possible problems in context. You choose a focused check instead of running every category at once.

When to use it

• After drafting or rewriting a page
• Before sharing or sending a draft
• When something feels off but you can’t pinpoint why

How it works

1. Open Checks from the toolbar
2. Choose one check from the panel; selecting it starts the analysis
3. Wait while issues appear in the editor
4. Click a highlighted issue to read the explanation and available action
5. Accept a suitable fix, request a rewrite when offered, or discard the issue

Opening the Checks panel does not start an analysis by itself. The page needs at least 100 words before a selected check will run.

Available checks

• Fix critical mistakes — grammar and spelling
• Improve accuracy and clarity — readability, passive phrasing, brevity, and story accuracy
• Tighten word choice — brevity, repetition, and word-choice issues
• Smooth dialogue transitions — dialogue handoffs, scene beats, and speaker transitions
• Clarify character perspectives — point of view, motivation, and perspective clarity

Working with issues

Each issue appears as a highlight in your text. Click it to see why it was flagged.

• Choose Accept when Feldar provides a direct replacement or sentence rewrite
• Choose Rewrite for me for supported issues that need a generated suggestion; after a result appears, you can accept it or try again
• Choose Discard when the wording is intentional or you prefer to revise it manually

After a completed run, the panel shows a writing-quality score based on the active issues. Treat it as a review aid, not an objective grade.

Not every flag is worth acting on. Checks surfaces possibilities, not mandates.

Tips

• Run Checks after a rewrite pass, so you’re reviewing the version you plan to keep
• Run the most relevant category first instead of assuming every page needs every check
• Combine Checks with Lens for both line-level review and perspective-driven feedback
