Import & Export

File import and export depend on availability for your account. The desktop interface includes transfer controls, but seeing a control does not mean the transfer is enabled.

Check availability

On desktop web or macOS, look for New project → Import in the Library or Import and Export in the editor’s Options menu.

A locked control can show Paid plan required or Document transfers temporarily unavailable. Follow the message shown for your account. A plan alone does not guarantee access while transfers are unavailable.

When a transfer is enabled, follow the dialog’s current file and size requirements. Keep your original file, and check the resulting text and formatting before relying on the transferred copy. These desktop controls do not describe the native iOS editor.

Bring existing writing into Feldar by copying it

If file import is unavailable:

1. Create a project in the Projects Library.
2. Open the source document in its original application.
3. Copy the text you need and paste it into the Feldar editor.
4. Review headings, paragraph breaks, emphasis, and other formatting.

For a longer manuscript, move one section at a time and verify each section before continuing. Keep the original source file until you have checked the Feldar copy. The desktop editor can convert common Markdown pastes into rich text.

Take writing out of Feldar by copying it

If file export is unavailable, select the relevant text in the editor, copy it, and paste it into the application where you want to continue working or format the manuscript. Review the copied text and formatting.

Keep an independent copy

Keep a copy of irreplaceable writing outside Feldar. When file export is unavailable, periodically copy your writing into a separate document. A read-only share link and a Writing record are not downloadable backups or historical draft recovery.
